Foggy morning suprise

Nokomis_fog10_26_05_119

As I headed out for my morning walk with my buddy Loki (golden retriever pup) I was treated to a series of unnfolding images of the rising sun through the early morning fog. My walk usually involves a drive to Lake Nokomis in Minneapolis just across the Mississippi. On foggy mornings the river is a veritable kalidascope of abstract colors. This particular morning was esceptional. I decided to grab my camera in hopes of catching one of the two Bald Eagles I have seen haning out on the Lake’s shores, I didn’t get the Eagle but I got some amazing and in one case very interesting shots.

the shot above was taken as the sun rose over the Ford Bridge connecting St. Paul to Minneapolis. I turned around and faced east to see this one..

Here are a few others along the lake… still no eagle!!

jason and Sarah: bouldering on a fall afternoon

L81

The day after we phtographed Jason and Liz in St. Cloud we traveled up to Taylor’s Falls, MN located on the St. Croix river and one of the oldest towns in Minnesota. Taylor’s Falls is also a popular hang out for white water kayakers and rock climbers, because of the falls and the glacial boulders and cliffs that are adjacent to the river. This location is also one of the the prime fall color spots in Minnesota at it was bursting with color!!!

The day was another gorgeous day and jason and Sarah were hard to keep up with. The couple are setting up an orphanage and school in Central America and will be moving there after they are married next June. jason is also a film maker and has produced a documentary that has helped raise money for the orphanage project.

Jason and Liz: strolling in a Mississippi Garden

L5

We photographed Liz and her fiance’ Jason on a gorgeous October afternoon at Munsinger Gardens in St. Cloud MN. It was our first trip to the gardens which are on the banks of the Mississippi River and we couldn’t have asked for a better day. Jason and Liz were also a joy to photograph, in fact we just told them to play and we simply followed them around. this couple like all of our couples have a connection to art, Liz has a degree in art.

It is days like this and working with people like the ones we are treated to as clients that make me pinch myself to check if I am dreaming.

Edina Art Center Holiday Portrait sessions

Ea_cg_10_8_05_152

I had the pleasure to spend an October Saturday afternoon photographing families for the Edina Art Center’s holiday fund raiser. The Art Center’s media facility asked if I would help….of course I said yess, how could I turn down an opportunity to help an organization that has helped thousands reconnect with their creativity and or launch a creative career.

I took my nephew with me as an assistant and together we photographed four families throgh out the natural settings of the Art Center. We met some delightful people and ended up with some fantastic images.

Brandon and Anna: Strolling with Sally

Abe_10_8_05_0251

On a beautiful Fall Sunday afternoon we had the pleasure of photographing Brandon and Anna and their dog Sally as they introduced themselves to Minnehaha Falls. The couple will be married in March at the minnesota Boat Club on Rasberry Island in St. Paul. This Sunday’s outing was Anna’s first time to Minnehaha Falls and judging by the crowd she wasn’t alone. Because of the recent heavy rains the falls were extra spectacular and the lower sun angle produced some fanatastic lighting as the sun beams bounced around inside the fall’s mist.

Our new 8 hour package will come with premium versions of these books possibly with an option of having them leather bound or increased in over all dimension.

If you have any comments about them feel to leave them also.

Here are links to the books. what you will see is two page spreads after the first page which is a single page.

Kyle & Kyme: Wandering in the shadow of F. Scott

Saturday October 1 we spent the afternoon wandering Downtown St. Paul with Kyle and Kyme as the explored the haunts of F. Scott Fiztgerald. These two docs ( Kyme a podiatirist and Kyle an internist) share a deep love of literature, a love which was the basis for Kyme breaking her rule of not marrying a doctor.

During the shoot we were approached on more than on occasion by bystanders inquiring as to who the celebrities were!!

Here are a few shots from the afternoon:

We spent a beautiful fall afternoon on Friday the 30th photographing Andy & Kim and their four legged companion Bijou, The sun was golden as we roamed the grounds of the St. Paul Conservatory capturing this photogenic three some as they played and relaxed. We love to photograph our couples at locations that have some meaning to them, it helps relax them and allows us to become invisible.
