Photography for me is not only a great documentary tool it is also an artistic tool. When capturing images I not only pay attention to composition etc for the image alone I also approach each image for its potential for further creative expression. For this reason I will cross process film, or shoot infra-red or use other tools to give me a creative starting point.
One of those tools I have been using for the past year is called a Lensbaby. Created by another photographer who was trying to find an on camera way to duplicate the range of possibilities available with tilt-shift lenses and pin-hole/holga cameras. It is a lens with a bellows that allows flexibility in moving the focus point any where in the picture plane. Here are some of the results from playing with this tool.

Yet another guest book is on its way to the printer. We have received rave reviews of our guest books and as an earlier post mentions we have decided to include them in our packages. This guest book is made up from the couple’s engagement shoot in early August and was shot on location at St. Anthony Main in Minneapolis’s historic milling district. Each book is personally designed by me to reflect the personalities of the couple and their connection to each other. Guests can sign in and leave a messsage of their blessing to the couple on pages with screened photos or blank areas. Click on the link below to see the book.
Because of increasing demand we will be posting a regular lisitng of booked dates. Since we try to limit ourselves to two weddings a month we consider a month booked when two weddings are booked for that month. We do make exceptions depending on the size of wedding coverage for each wedding booked.

We just got back from photographing the closest we will come to a California beach wedding. Ellie and Grover got married Saturday at Morning Star Resort on Cass lake in northern Minnesota. It was a wonderful event to be a part of and we truly feel lucky to have been able to share this important time in both Ellie and Grover (Jeff)’s lives. I seldom get the opportunitiy to witness such heartfelt community coming together to support two people they all love. The wedding was truly a group effort by family and friends.

A Minnesota beach wedding
We have donated two large photo sessions for the silent auction to be held as part of the Twin City Bridal Association’s Love is the Cure fund raiser. The fund raiser is designed to raise money to help breast cancer victims and survivors.
Here is what we are donating:
“Day in the Life” session for the bidder’s favorite cancer survivor or patient. Included will be a 12″ x12″ cloth bound book designed by me. This item is valued at $5,000.00
Eight hours of wedding photo coverage, including, engagement session and rehearsal. Valued at $3,500.00
